FAQ's
How much does laser eye treatment cost?
Z-LASIK prices go from £1495 to £2300 per eye depending on the correction required for your prescription i.e short sight, long sight, astigmatism or Blended Vision for those patients needing reading glasses.
Is it painful?
The procedure itself is not painful as anaesthetic drops are used to completely numb the surface of the eye. Both eyes are done at the same time and the whole procedure typically takes around 10-15 minutes from start to finish.
After the procedure, the anaesthetic drops will wear off and there is a few hours of discomfort which can be painful. You will be given painkillers and more aneasthetic to use if need be to make yourself more comfortable. The following day there will be no pain but you may feel a gritty sensation akin to having an eyelash in your eye until the cornea heals which takes approximately 24 hours.
How old do you have to be?
Anybody can have laser eye surgery as long as they are 18 or older, however it is advisable to wait until your prescription is stable before undergoing laser surgery to ensure a long lasting result.
When will I be able to go back to work and drive?
Most patients can return to work and legally drive themselves the next day.
Can I have laser surgery if I need bifocals/varifocals or separate reading glasses?
Yes, it can correct reading vision in ageing eyes(presbyopia). Laser Blended Vision is the way of correcting reading vision – much better and safer than intraocular lenses
